Black Widow (2021) Movie Review: Marvel's First Female Lead Superhero! |
Marvel has a history of success with their superhero movies and the new Black Widow is no exception. Scarlett Johansson is a perfect casting choice for the role of Natasha Romanoff, AKA Black Widow.
At first, she comes off as a cold-hearted assassin, but as the movie progresses, she starts to show more of her humanity. She has an emotional side and she can have fun, too, which we don't often see in Marvel movies.
There's even a scene where she takes a bubble bath! Also, the action sequences are on point. I'm all for seeing a female hero, but I want to see one who can kick some ass, and Black Widow does. The Black Widow is a brilliant,
Black Widow is finally getting her own movie! Marvel fans have been waiting for this since the Black Widow character was first introduced in Iron Man 2 back in 2010, but now it's finally happening. The Black Widow movie is set to release in 2021.
Black Widow has always been one of the most underrated Marvel superheroes on screen. She's always been the sidekick, the love interest, never the lead. But this time, Marvel is giving the Black Widow movie the spotlight she deserves.
It'll be Marvel's first female-lead superhero movie. And it's a perfect time, too, since female superhero movies are so in demand right now. It's time for Black Widow to finally get her own movie.
Marvel Studios' latest film, Black Widow, is a big step for the superhero giant. Not only is it the first female lead film for the studio, but it's also the first female-directed film in their universe.
The film barely makes a dent in the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline, but it does offer a fun, thrilling, and emotional origin story for one of the most beloved characters in the series.

Rating:
Marvel Cinematic Universe has been the only success story in Bollywood, which boasts of eight films including a franchise and two series of solo films in Hindi (or three, if you count the Ryan Reynolds-Iron Man franchise) till date, and three adaptations in English (Guardians Of The Galaxy.
Thor: Ragnarok and Captain America: The Winter Soldier) (So far). It's the only film franchise which has no current or future releases in Hindi (releasing this year). All the others are sequels. Can Black Widow (2021) make it eight?
Genres
Action, Adventure, Drama Cast Scarlett Johansson Scott Adkins Olivia Caceres Travis Schuldt Vincent Perez Plot A new cyber-terror cell dubbed Team Rocket has killed over a dozen government officials, including a President.
They have made a deal to secure their future and use cyber attacks to target and kill nuclear weapons, but not before liquidating the defected Russian operative known only as 'Natasha'.
As she goes in search of this mysterious assassin, Natasha uncovers his crimes and becomes enmeshed in a web of subterfuge with a world-spanning agenda.
Setting
Proscenium-space settings are popular these days because they're cheap to make, easy to manipulate and because a new set can be built to resemble the past.
Yet, these non-existent sets demand an incredible level of performance from the actors and set-dressing teams. Without the basic, physical skill that comes with working with masonry and plaster, a person can be confined to a suspended animation.
One needs to have the basic craftsmanship to deal with and build with masonry and plaster. For example, the early scenes in Black Widow (2019) show that behind the giant figurines and terracotta walls, a team of craftsmen is actually constructing a skyscraper.
Characters
17 year old Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) is a super spy who fights for the sake of her country. There is no plot; the film is purely about the super spy of Russian origins who now resides in New York City.
Initially there are a lot of travelling scenes when the duo is on missions, mostly involving looking for a bomb that threatens a satellite station. The film keeps us in the action mode without any hints on the second film.
The Romance There is a genuine attraction between the super spy and the 'assumed' 'complete stranger'. They share chemistry and we see them spending quality time together while trying to find out what they have in common.
Plot
Scarlett Johansson is Black Widow and will play the part for the next two Avengers films, which, if rumours are to be believed, will span the storylines of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4. What happens in between the two is left open for future teasers and spin-offs.
The Movie Black Widow is the first female superhero to be given her own movie (Iron Man made an earlier appearance in Iron Man 2), and even though Black Widow’s story is not as huge as Iron Man’s.
The character is easily as iconic (in fact, their comic book story was actually based on each other). Black Widow (first played by Uma Thurman in the first Iron Man film) is also considered the most popular character in the universe.
Style
Black Widow (2021) Movie Review: With nearly all characters relegated to the sidelines for Avengers: Infinity War, Black Widow (2021) has no time to waste. Directed by Anna Fleischle and Marcus Viscidi, the film moves at a blistering pace with no breathing room.
The narrative doesn't just showcase Natasha Romanoff's (Scarlett Johansson) journey into action. It also dives into her pre-hero years, before she married Natasha Romanoff. The film constantly delivers the moment that changes the trajectory of the character.
Made up of several plots connected to Marvel films, Black Widow (2021) doesn't have time to breathe. Starting with Scarlett Johansson's character making her escape from Washington D.C.
Prequel to Civil War
A good movie is about how a good person can be good at some things, but bad at other things. Black Widow, the character in the film, is a good person, even if she’s the superhero version.
That distinction exists, because Marvel didn’t give her the Infinity Gauntlet with all the powers of their largest heroes. So, let’s see what good she can do: bring down The Winter Soldier in Civil War.
Provide a mentor to young Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man 2; and, for five years before that, be Scarlet Witch’s (Elizabeth Olsen) loyal sidekick.
That’s a lot of cogs in the great Avengers machine, and of course, there’s an entire layer of bureaucracy at work that can help or hinder, but Natasha’s own focus on what’s important doesn’t waver.
Great Villains
This film has, however, very little in common with the gender politics that film has traditionally been associated with. The "socially conscious" Marvel series has, however, had a history of throwing subtext-laden subtext over the screen.
Which is why we were always left wondering what "the man" was thinking when his plot revolved around recycling the most tired of plots. Here, we are not so taken aback by a first female superhero lead because there is an assuredness in the film that it wouldn't need one.
The girl-power slapstick of these films tends to make a girl a sidekick, but Widow, with her marvellous kicks, reveals her full potential, shining through when she gets to fight her own battles.
Excellent Actors
Like Iron Man, Captain America and the Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Widow is Marvel Studios’ tentpole where male superheroes and the male of the species are definitely not an option.
S.H.I.E.L.D. director Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) is the classic Marvel character who is known as the most dangerous woman in the world and thus, the perfect female protagonist to represent the feminist flag on the big screen.
The plot revolves around Romanoff who works as a double agent as the alter ego of the Black Widow, a trained spy and assassin. She was actually first introduced by Stan Lee in 1963 and was assigned by Nick Fury to infiltrate and destroy Hydra and also assassinate all of their leaders.

Conclusion
A mega-budget actioner which is technically proficient, Black Widow (2021) Movie Review is a gorgeous creation. The directorial debut of Cate Shortland, this action thriller has all the ingredients to become a winner.
Natasha Romanoff, a.k.a. Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), has a series of missions that she has been given by her handlers. She is the US’s first female agent and the world’s most dangerous one at that.
In the Marvel universe, she’s quite a popular character and it wouldn’t be incorrect to say that Marvel Studios owes her a lot.
